Join The Chorus
The
Salisbury Singers, founded in 1973, is the premier
community chorus in greater Worcester County.
Under the dynamic leadership of Dr. Michelle Graveline,
the Chorus has expanded in the last few years
to nearly 100 singers and at the same time has
broadened its musical repertoire beyond the purely
classical genre. Our recent performances have
included Bach's Mass in B Minor, Verdi's Requiem,
famous choruses from Gilbert & Sullivan, God
Bless America Day in Worcester, singing at the
Massachusetts State Democratic Party Convention
and, we are proud to say, singing for the dedication
of the Massachusetts Vietnam Veterans Memorial
in Green Hill Park in Worcester.
The Salisbury Singers is a dues-paying, non-profit
community chorus that holds open auditions in
all voice parts twice each season. Our season
typically begins on the first Monday after Labor
Day and runs through May or June depending on
our performance commitments.
Beginning September 2010, we will rehearse at
the Trinity Lutheran Church, 73 Lancaster Street,
Worcester, on Monday evenings from 7:30 to 9:45
p.m.
Auditions are required and can
be scheduled by contacting Dr. Graveline at mgraveli@assumption.edu.
You will be voice tested for quality and range
and you will be asked to demonstrate your sight-reading
ability. Our membership includes schoolteachers
and college professors, managers, area professionals,
homemakers, ministers and a limited number of
talented high school students in our High School
Intern Program. We place a strong emphasis on
the social aspect of our endeavors giving you
an opportunity to meet interesting people who
share your passion for choral singing.
Come on out and give us a try. We hold Open Rehearsals
in September and January each season, affording
you the opportunity to sit in on a few rehearsals
and check us out. We're confident that once you
do, you'll decide to make the musical journey
with us as we learn new music together and share
our musical gifts with the people of Worcester
County and beyond.
If singing is not your forté but experiencing
wonderful choral concerts is, then send us e-mail
info@salisburysingers.org
to that effect and we'll put you on our E-Mailing
List. You will be notified in advance of our upcoming
performances and how you may obtain tickets.
