St. Paul's Cathedral, Worcester, MA
$25 adults, $22 seniors/students, New! $10 children

Salisbury Singers will perform
the magnum opus of Johannes Brahms (1833-1897),
a masterwork that redefined the requiem to offer
comfort and solace to the bereaved. The text of
Brahm's Requiem is derived from Martin Luther’s
German vernacular translation of the Bible and
was translated to English by the late Dr. Lara
Hoggard, who spent some 20 years meticulously
researching the German text. His translation more
accurately reflects the original and more closely
fits the spirit of the work, making it more accessible
to English-speaking audiences. Also, the chorus
will treat audiences to a lovely holiday prelude
with Vaughan Williams' Fantasia on Christmas Carols.
HAYDN
The Creation
Saturday, April 25, 2009, 7:30 pm
St. Stephen's Church, Worcester, MA
$25 adults, $22 seniors/students, $10 children
under 12
This monumental oratorio of Joseph Haydn (1732-1809)
vividly and joyously depicts the seven days of
creation according to the Book of Genesis, from
prevailing chaos to the creation of light, the
Earth and her creatures, and Adam and Eve. With
orchestra and featured soloists, Salisbury Singers
will recreate Haydn’s greatest expression
of music and faith.
