Join The Chorus
All are welcome to join us!
Salisbury Singers welcomes all vocalists interested in performing a variety of choral music throughout Worcester and the surrounding communities.
Some of Our History
Founded in 1973, Salisbury Singers is a premier community chorus in greater Worcester County. Since then, the chorus has expanded to more than 60 singers.
Performances have included a concert focused on the Alzheimer’s experience partnered with the Alzheimer’s Association, regular concerts honoring the service of veterans, participation in the annual sold-out Holiday Pops concert at Mechanics Hall, and works like Bach’s Magnificat and Mass in B Minor, Brahms’s Requiem, Haydn Creation, Mendelssohn’s Elijah, Handel’s Dettingen Te Deum, Barnett’s Bluegrass Mass, and Orff’s Carmina Burana.
As part of the greater Worcester community, the chorus has sung at various civic events such as the tenth anniversary 9/11 commemoration, local sports events, and the Massachusetts Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Green Hill Park in Worcester.
Becoming a Member
The Salisbury Singers is a dues-paying, non-profit community chorus that holds open auditions in all voice parts at the beginning of each concert cycle. Because we want all singers to join us, regardless of financial capacity, we have a sliding scale for dues if you speak with a leadership team member. We do not turn anyone away because of finances.
Salisbury Singers seeks to welcome all interested in singing as long as they commit to the process. We provide supports to help learn the music outside of rehearsal, and we hope that even newer singers may consider joining our ensemble. All interested members should contact the music director, Brad Dumont, at SalisburySingersWorcester@gmail.com to schedule a discussion. Typically, Brad will do a short warm-up with new singers to hear their range and may ask them to sing a simple folk song or melody so that he can hear their voices for placement purposes, but we seek to welcome all who want to join.
Our membership includes schoolteachers and college professors, managers, area professionals, homemakers, ministers, and recent college graduates. We place a strong emphasis on the social aspect of our endeavors allowing you to meet interesting people who share your passion for choral singing.
Our Normal Schedule
Rehearsals occur at All Saints Episcopal Church, 10 Irving Street, Worcester, on Mondays from 7:15 to 9:45 p.m. Our season typically begins on Monday before Labor Day and runs through May, depending on our performance commitments. We typically perform feature concerts in November and April/May, with Holiday Concerts in December and another event in mid-Winter.
Our first few rehearsals are Open Rehearsals (normally held the first few weeks of each cycle, in August/September and January, of each season) which allows you to sit in on a few rehearsals and check us out. We’re confident that once you do, you’ll decide to make the musical journey with us as we learn new music together and share our musical gifts with the people of Worcester County and beyond.
